Governor Lynch Commends Technology Innovations Visit to New Hampshire-based AmberWave Systems




Salem, N.H. - September 17, 2008- AmberWave Systems, a leader in the research, development and licensing of advanced technologies for semiconductor manufacturing, hosted New Hampshire Governor John Lynch on Friday, Sept. 12.

Lynch, along with executives from AmberWave, discussed the importance of technology innovation, partnerships with the state's research universities, strong intellectual property protection, and a business-friendly environment as keys to future economic growth in New Hampshire.

Executives at AmberWave thanked Governor Lynch and his administration, particularly Commissioner George Bald and Director Michael Vlacich of the N.H. Department of Resources and Economic Development, as well as Robert Dalton and Paula Pellitier of the N.H. Innovation Research Center (NHIRC), for their continued commitment to and support of the state's high technology companies such as AmberWave.

AmberWave was among the more than 1,000 companies nationwide that expressed strong concerns over proposed changes in the nation's patent laws, which would have made protection of early stage technologies costlier and more difficult.

New Hampshire's state government, educational institutions and private enterprise joined together to express their concerns to members of Congress, and highlighted the negative impact weakened patent protection would have on the state's public-private commitment to future economic and job growth.

AmberWave, which specializes in partnering with leading research universities worldwide, along with the University of New Hampshire, were named as co-recipients of the "Granite State Technology Innovation Grant" by the NHIRC this past January.

The grant will help support collaborative research on "Cost Effective Nano-Patterning for Aspect Ratio Trapping Technology," a promising technology that focuses on integrating silicon and compound semiconductors, which would improve the speed and functionality of many of the technology devices used everyday by consumers.
